Carers charity purchase vital equipment to help fallen people

Crossroads Care Forest of Dean and Herefordshire are delighted to have purchased a Raizer Lifting Chair, which will enable them to deliver services to people who have fallen in their home or community.

It’s a “simple battery operated mobile lifting chair that helps a fallen person up to an almost standing position within a few minutes.”

It cost the charity £2995, the majority of which was raised by employees.

In April this year, eight members of staff and supporters ran the Forest of Dean Spring Half Marathon, raising over £2000.

Crossroads are currently putting together a detailed plan of action, which will ensure that the chair is readily available for use, even during out of office working hours.

The charity are excited to support more people in the Forest of Dean, and will even be in a position to ease the pressures on local ambulance services, as they will no longer be required to attend many of these call-outs.

They will be continuing to fundraise for the delivery of the service, as training and additional equipment costs mount up.
