Active Living Boat Project – Week 2

Last week we introduced a brand new project taking place at our Active Living Group in Hereford.

We’re up-cycling an old boat which had previously been abandoned and left to look a little bit worse for wear.

Crossroads Active Living Group, alongside other sessions running at Aspire Community Hub, are working on the boat and getting it in shipshape for when Britain in Bloom arrives in Herefordshire.

Last week involved clearing, moving and starting to sand the boat down, ready for painting.

This week, alongside help from the Men’s Shed, our group finished the tough job of sanding the boat, applied filler to cover any holes or cracks, and primed it ready for the painting to start after the bank holiday weekend!

We will be painting the boat a light green colour, and everyone will be having their own section to decorate and leave their mark on.

After the painting, the group will be adding a false bottom into the boat, it will then be filled with compost, ready for planting.

Crossroads Active Living Group is aiming to complete the project by July the 11th, so it can be entered into Hereford in bloom.
